I made this quilt for Mathew and Monica out of the leftovers from Monica’s wedding and bridesmaid dresses. The white is from Monica’s dress, the pinks are from the bridesmaid and flower girl dresses. The green is from mom’s dress. All of it is leftover fabric we did not cut up any of the actual dresses.
The first plan had been to make a double wedding ring quilt but after cutting out a few pieces I realized that the fabric frayed too much for a curved design. So I switched to one of my favorite patterns “Blazing Star”. It has taken me a while to get this done as I had been trying to keep it a surprise until I had the top pieced. That is hard to do when they decide to surprise you with a visit and you have pieces all of the sewing table which just happened to be in the dinning room at the time. I did manage to cover it up with out then noticing. And then when I was almost done Monica (and the littles ) moved in with us while Matt was in Korea. That took some maneuvering to work around when she was home. but in the end It is finished and sent off to them in Germany. (It fit nicely in one of Aimée’s suit cases.)
Another picture. I am holding one side and Jeff is hiding behind it to hold up the other.
